The brain shapes who we are. Our thoughts, emotions, and connections to one another. Yet neurological and psychiatric conditions affect one in three people worldwide, placing immense social, emotional, and economic burdens on individuals and societies.
Our Commission will address key frontiers in brain health by advancing an equitable, rights-based framework that closes policy gaps and meaningfully engages people living with brain health conditions. We will identify modifiable determinants and robust metrics across the life course, promote integrated cross-sector prevention strategies, harness technology and innovation, and quantify the brain economy to demonstrate how brain health drives productivity, wellbeing, and sustainable growth.
The Lancet Commission on Brain Health brings together leading experts from around the world to promote and protect brain health across the lifespan. Through rigorous evidence synthesis and cross-disciplinary collaboration, the Commission will develop globally relevant, actionable recommendations to improve outcomes for all
including definition, equity and human rights
