In response to these calls to action, numerous national, regional, and societal brain and mental health plans have been developed worldwide. Despite differences in local contexts, these initiatives share common goals, including awareness and advocacy, workforce education and capacity building, investment in brain research, coordinated and intersectoral programmes for brain health promotion and disease prevention, and the protection of the rights, dignity, and autonomy of people affected by mental and neurological conditions, as well as their caregivers.
On 12–13 June 2025, representatives of 21 national, regional, and societal initiatives will convene in Bern under the auspices of the Swiss Brain Health Plan and the World Health Organization for the first international meeting dedicated to the development and implementation of brain and mental health plans worldwide. The meeting will provide a unique platform for the exchange of experiences, mutual learning, and joint discussion of overarching strategies, benchmarks, and indicators to support effective implementation, while acknowledging local needs, gaps, and opportunities.
By fostering international collaboration and dialogue, this event aims to contribute to the advancement of brain health and to the development of more peaceful, fair, and productive societies.
